I have a new favorite website.

Never before have I been so entertained by the ignorance of religious intolerance as I have been reading through the nonsensical ravings on www.godsaidmansaid.com ….For those keeping score at home, that would be “God said…Man said”…inferring that the fundamentalist Christians who run this website are the keepers of truth and the correct interpreters of the big fella’s holy written words, while the rest of us have been getting it wrong for the past couple of thousand years. According to these maniacs, this God dude is a violent, mean spirited bully, and he’ll think nothing of punishing you if you dare live your life in any way, or have any dissimilar beliefs than those that don’t conform to the same interpretation of the Bible that they say you should. Let me offer an example:

What a scumbag…all Lot’s wife did wrong was to look back over her shoulder and she got turned into a pillar of salt? Just because his angels told her not to? Yeah, this sounds like a real fun eternity you guys are going to be having…But this website is just full of cruel and sadistic things God apparently did to people (whom he allegedly loves) that most human beings would otherwise be incapable of doing without his inspiration and example. Damn, I wouldn’t do that to my worst enemy. Who knows, maybe Mrs. Lot was J-walking? Apparently the Lord has an itchy trigger finger, because he’ll kill you for a misdemeanor. Damn, he’ll banish you to an eternity in Hell for less than that.

But this also extends much further than just a few scary stories meant to frighten us into submissive obeying. The Bible has nothing on Grimm’s Fairy Tales. The sexism in the Bible is blatant, and it has become the main tool used by zealots to assault human sexuality and our natural wants needs and desires. Why would anyone want to do this? Hell, that is what the Vanilla Cult is all about (see FAQ’s on this website)…It is the nature of some people to impose their self-righteous indignation, and force their will on YOU. They are sexually repressed, and they want to justify their miserable lives by doing the same to you. The Bible gives them a fantastic tool to do this.

I have to be honest here though. Even though I (and many others) believe the Bible to be a wonderful work of fiction, and inherently sexist and cruel (if not hilarious), I have no problem with people who honestly feel that this is the righteous path. Hey, have yourself a freakin’ ball praying to the son of the absentee invisible omnipotent force of creation. You keep praying, I’ll keep evolving. It is when people try to legislate away my freedoms in the name of their religion that I have a problem….

There is a shitload of money behind this website, and moreover, the Fundamentalist Christian movement overall. I heard about this website because they have the monetary backing to advertise on Free Fm. Their political lobby attacks our constitution in the name of God, and as Americans, we are slowly having our rights legislated away. The guys who wrote our constitution saw this coming, because they were escaping similar persecution of thought in Europe. The clearly defined separation of church and state has been eroded away.

How this impacts you is simply this…there is an assault on our liberties happening as we go about our daily lives. I implore everyone who reads this to visit www.godsaidmansaid.com and read for yourselves. The fact of the matter is that I can’t do the bigotry and hate speech contained in this site justice here in my rant. The website is massive, and really needs to be perused to truly appreciate its insanity.

If you are one to be fearful of death, and sheep-like enough to live the rest of your life fearing the impossibility that these lunatics might just be right and you better try to exist by their ridiculous standard rather than actually enjoy your life in the time you spend here on Earth. If you think that God is mean spirited enough to punish you for your natural wants needs and desires, then here is a terrific handbook for you. This is like the Bible made simple…for simpletons. But if you have any ability for reason, or any ability to discern …by all means have yourself a terrific laugh… (I particularly get a kick out of the way they try to denounce the embodiment of scientific reasoning in favor of a 6000-year-old planet) But do so with the understanding that our constitution is being re-written by the lobby of the Christian right.
