Who am I referring to this time may you ask? How about these Self-righteous, book-burning assholes who feel the need to impose their religious beliefs on everyone else. The Christian right wing in this country has said some pretty stupid shit…and I do love to call them out on it…but this inane protest takes the fucking cake.

Apparently, there is a large contingent of dopes who believe Harry Potter books are teaching our children the evils of witchcraft, and promoting a Satanic agenda. That’s right…Harry freaking Potter…Jesus Christ on roller skates…if there is one thing that makes my blood sugar levels rise it’s hate filled psychopaths who use religion to lash out in anger at the rest of the world.

Laura Mallory, a mother of four and a woman whose womb is unfortunately fertile, told a hearing officer for the Gwinnett County Board of Education (Ga.) that the popular fiction books are an "evil" attempt to indoctrinate children in the Wicca religion. She wants the books banned from the school libraries. She has never read ANY of them. Wanna talk about a sancitimonious twat?… Laura Mallory is it…and she is just one of many like minded (not to mention small minded) Evangelical Christians who are a part of this massive protest. Some have gone so far as to burn Harry Potter books and DVDs. Lovely…just what Jesus would have done.

Have any of these fucking Christian douche bags ever thought how offensive the Bible might be to some people? How would they feel if a bunch of Wiccans decided to burn Bibles? (Which I don’t condone btw…no book should be burned with the exception of mine perhaps) Why don’t any of them have the guts to protest Judaism or Islam, Both of whose teaching claim that in fact Jesus was NOT the Son of God? Why don’t they burn the Koran in public? Why not Dianetics?

I am going to go out on a limb here and make a few estimates…

Number of kids who turn to Satanism because they have read a Harry potter book: Zero

Number of kids who turn away from Christianity because their parents are over zealous lunatics: Lots

Number of kids who grow up to be miserable because they were raised by guilt imposing assholes: Even More

Number of kids who become avid readers because of Harry Potter books: Shitloads

                             Yes...these books are awful, and anyone who shows up                           

                           at Barnes & Nobles dressed in costume at midnight in order

                              to buy them probably needs electro-shock therapy...

                                                         But evil?...c'mon!

This doesn’t end with just the Harry Potter series; I have also read similar complaints against The Lord of the Rings, and Star Wars. Last summer as I was walking through midtown Manhattan when this douche bag walks up to me, hands me a pamphlet, and says this to me: “Don’t believe in the DaVinci Code…believe in the Bible!” As I live and breathe I just wanted to smash this incredibly stupid human being in the face with all my might. It was only the fact that the pity I felt for him outweighed my distain that saved me from incarceration, and he from the orthodontist.

But like I always claim, stuff like this is never about what these self-righteous shitheads say it’s about. This is not about Harry Potter, and it’s certainly not about God’s will. It is about THEM, and their burning need to force their will upon others… The Bible is just their excuse to be petty, and project their own unhappiness. These Fundamentalist Christians just love to censor books…I have an idea…maybe they should all try to get laid instead. Without going into the distant and cruel past of Christianity such as the Crusades, or the Inquisition…more recent history shows how destructive puerile piousness like this can be. Christian paranoia about witches has already lead to human beings burned alive at a stake…I shutter to think what would happen if nuts like this had their way. Hey, they already have a bon-fire going.
