RICHARDS RANT of the WEEK
Sometimes I think the world has gone crazy. Most times I am sure of it.
I have gotten some negative feedback from people in our own lifestyles community fearing that my counter attack on the Vanilla Cult will somehow escalate into further aggressions on those of us who chose to exercise sexual freedoms that our constitution provides. Their concerns are, of course, valid, as historically the assault on sexuality in this country has ended tragically for the sexually liberated. Unfortunately I feel that we’ve gotten to a point where sticking one’s head in the sand is no longer an option. This is not something that you can ignore and hope will go away. The attack is well underway. Placating a bully never makes them go away, and surely, if you give your milk money to a schoolyard thug today, tomorrow will bring more of the same. It can be argued that by saying and doing nothing, one is enabling, if not encouraging this type of behavior.
I submit the following article:
Porn pair riles neighborhood
Couple behind adult Web site want to move to Scottsdale

SCOTTSDALE - An Oregon couple who run a pornographic Web site called Wifey's World have riled some Scottsdale residents over plans to move their operation to north Scottsdale.
Residents who live in the high-priced 85259 ZIP code received a mailing this week warning of the impending move of X**** and Y***** Z********, a married couple known to their Internet fans as Hubby and Wifey.
Together, the Z******’s run a hard-core porn site that boasts "the Web's most well-endowed, orally talented housewife." The 8-year-old site features pictures and videos of the couple being intimate.
X**** Z***** said he and his wife had not yet decided whether to return to Scottsdale from Oregon, where they moved about two years ago.
But some residents worry about what the move could mean for their neighborhood.
"Although I support freedom of speech, as a parent and homeowner in the area, I am concerned that this business would be established or moved to our area," resident Phil Mihok wrote to the city.
Another resident, Brenda High, wrote asking what she could do to keep the couple out.
Z****** said that he understood concerns but said that the couple would be all but invisible in the neighborhood.
"There is no (pornography) studio going in," he said. "I've never had a studio. (The mailer) made it sound like we hang out with this porn element, and we're going to be having all these people over. It's complete nonsense."
Z****** bought property in the upscale Ancala subdivision in March. The lot in the 12800 block of North 119th Street has a cash value of $456,000, according to the Maricopa County Assessor's Office.
Plans for a house have been filed by Z*****'s architect. No home exists today, and the start of construction is likely months away, city staff said.
The mailer encourages concerned residents to contact members of Scottsdale's Citizen and Neighborhood Resources staff.
"In order to protect your neighborhood and your children it is imperative that you take action now," warns the glossy mailer from the Northeast Valley Coalition Against Pornography, a previously unknown group that lists no contact information.
But it is not illegal to operate a Web-based adult business from a home, city staff members said.
Judy Register, manager of Citizen and Neighborhood Resources, said there was nothing Scottsdale could do.
Michael Craig, a resident who received the mailer, said the only thing that offended him was the notion that someone would tell him "what you should and should not do in the privacy of your own home."
"Let me wish you continued luck and success in your business," Craig wrote to the Z******s in a note he copied to the city staff. "And don't let other people stick their noses in it, unless they want to pony up the monthly fee to watch."
Note: I X’ed out the names of this couple because I have no desire to cause them further harm. If they want their names out there, they can do it themselves… and if you’re really that freakin’ curious, you need to get out more.
I am not going to attempt to defend this couple, simply because they don’t require it. Not only have they done nothing wrong, by all accounts they are a happliy married loving couple. But because they accomplish this in a manner that falls outside of the Vanilla comfort zone, they are under attack. The Vanilla World should have more relationships like this. But this is not about the couple in question, this is about the cowards who would dispense a mean spirited, hate filled flyer in hopes of embarrassing and hurting people who would otherwise do them no harm in the name of morality.
But how much of this is really about what these “moralists” claim it is? As I have repeatedly stated in UnLEARN!, when some small minded zealot spouts self righteous indignation it is never about what they say. Does this “watch dog group similarly do background checks on everyone who moves into the Scotsdale area? Have there been any conviced felons who have moved into the community recently? What about people with substance abuse problems? What about people who don’t recycle their trash? Have they sent similar mailings out about other people they don’t approve of? Why this couple, and why now? Allow me to speculate…
The bottom feeding hypocritical slugs who dispensed this drivel have a burning need to feel important, and they have annointed themselves the moral watchdogs of their community. They feel they know whats best for you, and that we, the simple minded masses need to be warned of the evils of sexuality. Even if they need to lie to accomplish this. Unfortunately, the only persons showing an utter lack of morality is them.
But This is where people are willing to be lead. They’ll sit idly by while people’s freedoms and rights are taken from them until of course, they come knocking on their door demanding to see what they have been looking at on their computer. Where will you stand when they knock at your neighbor’s door? Who will be left when they knock at yours? |
